Agoura Hills ADU services
From the first site visit to the final City inspection, these are the ADU services we provide in Agoura Hills and the neighboring communities. Most owners use several of them together; some only need one piece, such as plans or permits.

Attached or detached garages rebuilt inside as studios or one-bedroom units. The existing shell stays, the door opening is framed in and the City cannot make you replace the parking.
Learn More
Small units, 500 square feet at most, carved out of the house itself or its attached garage. Each gets an outside door, a kitchenette that meets the efficiency kitchen rules and a private or shared bath.

Seven of our services are types of unit: detached, attached, garage conversion, junior, above-garage, prefab and multifamily. Picking among them is less about taste than about the lot. A tract home with a storage-filled garage points one way, an Old Agoura acreage with a septic system another, and a hillside parcel south of the freeway a third. We look at the garage, the yard, the slope, the oaks and the utilities, then narrow the list.
Budget and purpose matter too. A relative who needs help nearby may be best served by a junior ADU or an attached unit. A long-term rental usually works better as a detached cottage or full garage conversion with its own entry and kitchen.

The other four services cover what every ADU needs regardless of type: design and drawings, permits and approvals, foundations and utilities, and the kitchens and bathrooms that make the unit livable. Keeping them with one team means the people who draw the plans also answer plan check comments and then build what they drew.
That continuity matters in Agoura Hills, where a project may involve the Planning Division, Building and Safety, Public Health for septic, SCE for a detached unit and an oak tree permit. When one team tracks all of it, nothing falls between consultants.
A few local requirements touch almost every project. The City wants existing oaks and their protection zones on the site plan. The fire map puts most of the city in its highest hazard tier, which brings wildfire construction standards. Before final approval, the owner signs and records a residential-use covenant, which bars short-term rentals.
In Oak Park, Ventura County handles permits, and in Malibou Lake and Cornell, Los Angeles County does. The state's ADU protections apply in all of them, but the local forms and reviewers change.
Some owners come to us with nothing but an idea. Others already have drawings from another designer, a set of City pre-approved plans or a permit in hand and need a builder. We can step in at any stage. If plans exist, we review them against the site and the current City standards before pricing construction, since older drawings sometimes miss items like oak protection or septic approval.
Whatever the starting point, the first step is the same: a conversation about the property and the goal, followed by a site review.
FAQs
Yes. Some owners need only design, only permit help or only construction. We review any existing drawings before pricing a build.
Yes. We also build in Oak Park, which Ventura County permits, and in Malibou Lake and Cornell, which Los Angeles County permits.
Junior ADUs and garage conversions usually cost less than new construction because they reuse an existing structure. Site conditions can change that ranking, so we compare options on your lot.
Yes. We check whether a pre-approved design fits your lot, prepare the site-specific drawings it still needs and build it.
